LED professional Symposium 2021 (LpS 2021): Light for the Third Industrial Revolution

The LED professional Symposium + Expo (LpS) recurring annually in Bregenz, Austria, is considered to be Europe’s leading international lighting technologies conference and exhibition for design, testing and production of lighting systems. After the unfortunate cancellation of the 2020 edition due to the spread of the Coronavirus in Europe and, as a result thereof the rescheduled Light+Building in Frankfurt, the stage is now being set for LpS 2021 which is supposed to deal with ‘digitization’ and the ‘green deal’. The digitization of manufacture will transform the way goods are made—and heavily impact the lighting industry too.

LpS 2021: Light for the 3rd Industrial Revolution

The first industrial revolution started in Britain in the late 18th century, with the mechanization of the textile industry. Tasks previously done by hand in hundreds of weavers’ cottages were brought together in a single cotton mill, and the factory was born. The second industrial revolution came in the early 20th century when Henry Ford mastered the moving assembly line and ushered in the age of mass production. The first two industrial revolutions made people richer and more urban.

These days, a third revolution is underway. Manufacture is going digital. As many argue, this will change not just business, but much else besides. The program of 2021 will center around this next wave of manufacture and how it impacts the position in the lighting industry. Also, the ‘green deal’ – including sustainable approaches for new lighting collections and fabrication will be an important part of the event.

LpS 2021: Themes & Topics

The 2021 edition of the LED professional Symposium will provide the latest updates in the fields of Industry & Technology Trends (Markets, Roadmaps, Innovations), Light Sources (LED lighting, OLED, Lasers), Light Quality (Human Centric Lighting, Visual Perception), Smart/Connected Lighting & Internet of Things (Drivers, Controls, Sensors, Networks, Security), Components and Modules (Standard LED Optics / Custom Optics, Cooling Devices, Materials), System Quality & Qualification (Regulations, Standards, Testing), Methodologies (Engineering, Design), Technologies in Applications (General Lighting, Automotive Lighting, Horticultural Lighting).

In the time to come, more updates are expected to follow on the exact program set-up, also due the postponement of the 2020 edition.

Luximprint Prototyping Services for Printed Optics

At Luximprint, we will to have a presence at LpS 2021, either with another booth location or a team visit. Since our successful presence at LpS 2019, new inventions and approaches in printed optics were born, and we eagerly share them with our customers and folks in the lighting market. We’d be delighted to catch up with any lighting professional in search for fast, flexible and cost-effective optics prototyping solutions.

Getting prepared for LpS 2021

In the latest edition of the affiliated LED professional Magazine, LPR issue #77, a substantial article was published dealing with Technologies for the 3rd Industrial Revolution. It’s worth reading to understand more about the current state of the available technologies that empower this next move in manufacture.
